I have a question, if I'm rendering an animation in 3dsmax, and this animation is for DVD, do I need to render in 3dsmax TO FIELDS? or After effect could interpolate to fields with its features?
If someone can quickly help its greatly appreciated, since I have a steep deadline to meet.

Kind Regards,

Yes. And no.
Though I wouldn't use AE for mastering/encoding to DVD.

I would appreciate if you could elaborate a bit more on the subject. What software would you use then?

Encore or DVD Studio, if on Mac. Even Tmpgenc
http://www.tmpgenc.net/en/index.html or Nero
would do a better job.

If you have the creative suite, just use Encore.

It doesn't seem to matter if you render to fields - just make sure that your pixel aspect ratio and comp size are correct for the DVD format (NTSC 4:3 or Anamorphic). Usually the DVD authoring program will handle the encoding for you (MPEG2) but I have found the TMPEG encoder is a great tool and the compression quality is great - it also seems to be a bit faster than the programs default.

I don't know if you are using AfterEffects to comp your file or to add stuff - but generally speaking I don't think you can "author" a DVD from AE. You can only output the file that you will be using to create the DVD (Quicktime, AVI - read the sticky about rendering to compressed formats from AE!). If you have Encore, you can create the interface in AE and bring it into Encore for use in the DVD project - but you didn't specify whether or not that is what you wanted.

Encore works well but DVD studio pro (mac) is easier to use and the learning curve isn't as great. However - if you just need to slap this into a DVD for personal use, Nero or Roxio or any mid-level DVD creator will do just fine.
