Title: My Copy of Rembrandt's "Old Man In Red".
Name: GLENN GALLEGOS
Country: USA
Software: Painter

This is a master painting study of hands done for the Artistic Anatomy and Figuative Art Forum found here in CGTalk. Subdivision Open Fiigure Drawing Workshop 023 HANDS.
I chose Rembrandt's painting "PORTRAIT OF AN OLD MAN IN RED", circa: 1652-1654, Hermitage Museum, Russia, as a master study. The hands of the old man in the painting express a life time of hard labor and work which is something that I can relate to and is why I chose this painting as my master study. I used Painter 9, its impasto and other oil brushes and stuck as closely to Rambradts painting and technique as I could, while interpretting it using digital. I painted it entirely free hand, no grid or use of color picker. The works in progress for this master copy can be found in my sketch book anatomy thread. Hope you enjoy. Take care Glenn

I do enjoy indeed!

Absolutely striking treatment of the dramatic light on the hands.
Great contrast between the soft clothing and the rugged skin on the hands.

Also love the expression and the beard very much - impressive statements from a long life as a painter.
