View Full Version : Large Scene Files
jonmalexander 04-30-2008, 08:42 PM Hey I've got a scene file that once was 80 KB and is now taking forever to save and ends up being more than 200 MB in size. I feel I have heard about something similar before. I haven't done enough changes to my scene to warrant such a big file size. There seems to be a lot of redundant or unncecessary code that LW is putting into thte scene file when it saves it. Is there a fix or solution for this?
Thanks in advance!

So... what does your scenefile consist of? Bones, nulls, objects? Is there alot of keyframe data? Have you created actors in MotionMixer that holds a bunch of animationtracks?
It's really hard to tell without having more information.

have you tried looking in the image editor to see if you have lots of unused images in there?
Do you have a lot of entrys in the Master Plugins window? If yes, remove the unwanted ones.

You could always drag the file into a text editor and see what's wrong. If it went from 80Kb to 200MB, then you'll be sure to spot the problem I'm sure. You'll probably see a bunch of entries repeated beyond belief. You could always delete then in the text file and you'd be fine. When working with LW, I have more then on one occasion found Notepad to be a lifesaver. Then again, that is one of the strenghts of LW!

Hey Everybody, I'm so sorry. Thanks for the help on this! I was able to get it solved and it was what some of youwere saying. It was motion mixer and unwanted plugins. I used an app that was able to clean the scene out of unused plugins. Thanks again!
