Heres two of things I'm working on.
No the first one is NOT a pig. Hopefully once I add the teeth and more of the body that will be obvious.

Next up is the head I'm still working on
I pretty happy with the face so far (finally) and some people who saw it on my computer actually said it looks like the person I had in mind while making it (didn't actually use reference photos of the person) without me telling who it was first :)

hmmm, is the first one the little bat from 'anastasia'?
the face looks cool, but i think the corners of the mouth could use some smoothing/points-moving... otherwise great! looking forward to the textured version!

Good stuff. The nostrils on the human figure could do with more definition. The sharp area below the chin seems a little off. There should also be more definition under the eyes--saggy baggy stuff. Otherwise it's looking very good. How about some wireframes?

Prepare for nightmares!!! WAY to many points I know, but still alot better then my first try.
I'm going for a "double-chin" so its not really supposed to be sharp.
I'm not quite sure what you mean about the eyes AdamT...

Note that on the unsmoothed mesh, somethings that look like Tris are not really tris
Nice work...!
But there's one absolutely crucial thing still missing...

smoke : nice work...ya been busy then.
the first model side view reminds me of a hyena! probably wrong...i tried getting some good reference material for a hyena..but couldn't get any..but it could be a bat.. heh heh.
the fat head man is very good...tip of nose is very flat...also when you compare high wire to low wire...you can see various patches or patchy areas where i would go back to the low wire and compare the normal...are they tris..can you get rid etc. other than that really like both models.

Hi smoke,
Nice head. I guess this is a fat man. I have looked
on your wires and I would say you should clean-up
some polys. I would also smoothen the mesh a bit
especially around the nose. But all in all a nice model.
keep on

Hyena??? HYENA?!?!?!?!?
Yup its Shenzi from the Lion King. I don't like the movie, but I happened to run across a model sheet for the character and thought that it might make a good test. Hoping to actually complete the body on it. Trying to figure out how to do gums and teeth right now...
Hint on the human face: "Good evening...."
Yeah that mesh is little screwy. If I turn up the smoothing to 3 or 4 strange spots appear in the mesh and then it looks like he has pimples. I'm just reluctent to go back in and delete polys to rebuild. I'll probably just finish the back of the head, try some ears and texture, then start over on a new head. I'm really trying to get out of the hadit of using too many points:shame:

heh heh...no offence intended bud....i guess i'm ignorant of the lion king...now if you'd said stuart little, bugs life, antz...i might of known...being as my nephew...MAKES...me watch that stuff..
heh heh....ONLY side view mind you...see photo...sorry to drag thread in completely wrong direction...but you'll see what i mean...i hope!!

You have some talent but your meshes are pretty dirty. You have edgeloops that don't follow the contours of the model.
If you don't control the edge loops you get a rippled outcome.
Also... the nostrils in the first model are way too huge.
----------IMHO, you should shoot for realism before you shoot for a "cartoony" look. Otherwise you'll get stuck in a habit of modelling without too much rhyme or reason.

hi adrian,
what means this edge-looping-thing. I have read it often
but I still have no clue.

OHHHHH so thats what Edgeloops are....
What does the Edgeloop tool in C4D do? Select an edgeloop?
(yeah i know i should look it up in the manual, but i figured you'd need something to do on a friday night.... oh wait I'm home too)
in my experience the edgeloop function royally screws up any sembelance of a continious edge. It selects random edges all over the place making a sort of picture puzzle piece design.
unfortuantely It just doesnt seem to work for me.
I don't really know how it selects the edges to select but in my opinion the tool needs a good reworking.
