Hey everyone,

Well I must say, I'm scared. This is my first hardcore modelling challenge and from what I've seen, everyone else is doing great work. Im going to be using maya for the first time other than just playing around, cause I got it for my birthday last week :D

But yeah, hopefully all goes well and I can complete the challenge.

So here's my inspiration, hopefully a fairly simple model, though I think the head will give me a challenge as I've never done anything like that before:

Good to see someone new to 3D trying one of these challenges! Hope that you make a really good image and show the forum what you are made of! This is a great opportunity to learn new things so great luck along the way!

Well i've started working my way up to the waist. Keep in mind, the shaders are nowhere near final, and even this is just my base model... hopefully... lol

Anyway, here it is-

And the fire effect is just a maya fluids preset lol so not actually mine, but its not quite the look im going for anyways, so it will be changed

Looking good! Maybe you could just shorten the length a little on the red part of the leg to get the proportions right. Other than that no crits here! Good luck!
