Beautiful image, and I would say the blue/purple overtones win.

Nice work. Great image. They're both about the same for me. Maybe a slight edge to the lower one..

I would say the first one simply cause it feels more older in the visual area, but the second one looks good too, you cant go wrong.

In more ways then one ;)
I like the sepia tones harmonizing with the theme of your art.

Always good stuff Totich! The bats are just awesome! Personally I like the blue one better. It makes the night seem cold and eerie.

i would have to agree, but i also like the cool feeling to the violet tones. but the style fits with the colors better on top. great work:applause:
i love the smoke, it reminds me of the new zelda game

Keep post up more

Of those two, I say second, but they both have the same problem. the carriage, horses, and vampire are blending into each other and into the background. kinda really have to look at it to pick apart what's happening.

good to see you posting again totitch! really nice work, you guys are really creating some great work. awesome characters and design. i like the first one more too, seems to catch my eye more than the blue one. :)

Number 2 big time. The cooler tones help dampen the bright light of that lantern, so that your eye isn't stuck there, and the cooler tones also make the moon pop out more.
The lower one makes the coach blend in more in the background though, whereas it pops more in the top one... But to me the harmony of the composition is preserved more in the lower image, where your eye bounces around the scene.
LOVE the image.

I love the style...!
Personally I like number 2. I think it would be great if the BG was a little more blue/less red to give it a real moonlit feel.
Very very cool. I love it a very distint style in a 2d artists work...!

i guess the blue tones are better for athmosphere and overall feeling, but i still like the warm colors better :bounce:
somehow fits the characters better in my humble opinion

i would have to vote for the second image.

Cute!
I like them both, but i think the first one suits your drawingstyle better! The second one could be a little bit darker, maybe that will do better?

05-15-2003, 06:45 AM
Have you tried using blues for the background and sepias for the foreground. I dunno if that would clash but it would be like dark scary horror stuff meets dirty old west carriage riders as far a s colors go. Hmmm its late. Ill come back in the morn to see if that made sense.
There both great though. I would choose number 1 if i had to pick betwwen the two though. The dirty look wins in my opinion.

Go for the Purple one!!!
Gremlin
05-15-2003, 06:49 AM
number 1 is superior... cause #2 would be the obvious choice to the simpleton (heheh, did I just make enemies?) but when you think about it, ghosts and bats and crap... thats kinda, a bit beyond a dark forest, thats more of a dark, dirty, horrid place to be, and the greenish tinted version (number 1) is definitely more of that setting.
Cheers,
Number 1!
Seriously, I saw the first one without seeing the second, and I thought "Sweet - finally somebody did a succesful night scene without resorting to the standard cool blues and purples". It has a great muddy thick atmosphere that disappears in the standard cool hues. LOVE the style.:applause:

#1.
The #2 colors are too kid friendly and easy on the eyes, the #1 image has more conflict and energy, and an off-balance feel.

05-15-2003, 07:57 AM
very nice picture. I like the top one. In the lover one , it just feels like everthing is too blue and purple.
Despite what everyone else say, I say go for the first one ;)

Is this turning into an episode of the Tomorrow People (The Bue and the Green)?
I will vote for the first one, I think the stagecoach sits better, on the bottom picture it looks more like a cutout.
It's a close call but I think you know that by now.

love the designs, number two is better because of the cooler tint of the background. Could be a little lighter though.

Hi Totitch......
:wavey:
I'll take one of each. really I'll leave the choice to you, both grab me in different ways. The second a little more ambiant, the first a little more eye catching. No help I know, but none the less they both are winners.
I like the piece very much mostly because somehow you have made it look like everything is in motion. It's a still, but still it looks like it's in motion, alot is going on within the piece. From the bats in the distance around the castle to the stagecoach and characters, the little ghost is extra fun.Well done,a fun piece.

05-15-2003, 11:37 AM
thats some really great 2d work there fella, i think that the second one is the best, just from the colours, its looks more eye catching.
but if you have to pick em for a certain topic, like a "old day scene" i would go with the top one as it looks like its been taken from an old cowboy flick - the way its that strange browney colour u get me?
other then that i really like ur work man very good - im loving the ghosts too lol

So what software was used? Flash, Freehand, Illustrator? what? VERY cool. would love to see it animated. I'm EXTREMELY curious to know what software you use and your process of creating these image
BTW- I would suggest for the most part #2 but maybe on the good guys use more of the #1 palette.
Looks great, I like both, but maybe I would keep the first one, although I dont know why.

I prefer the 2nd one, the first one is too green...I prefer blue tones :)
Anyway, great work, I love the little ghost in front of the car:applause:

Great images! :applause:
Initially I chose number two but, I have to pick number one though. I think represents the idea of the night being lit by the lantern around the carriage the best, although it's just a bit too yellow for my own tastes. Both images are great, making it very hard to chose one so I had to look at them both for a while.
:applause: Very nice!

YES!!! Count Chocula's revenge!!!!!
I'm usually a sucker for subdued blue and purples, but im gonna have to say i like the warner one better in this case........no 1 for me........it just really makes the action pop more, gives it more movement.
great work as always!

I like the first one, it has a very "Old West" feel to it. It's a nice twist to your horror theme. The color scheme of second one is more consistent with the horror theme, but seems more uninteresting to me. Very good work. :)

I really like the first onle a whole lot not only the characters satnd out a lot more so that u can pay attention to those details but the second one is too blend it really brings it down also i dont know what yur intentions were when u created the painting but it seems to me like it was toward humor and second is too eerie that's my 2 cents:drool:

Thanks everybody!
Thanks for all the kind words, opinion and critics!
just to answer to Eric3dee and all the people interested in, i only use Photoshop after a very very clean draw! to clean i use a pencil (hb or 2B) and classic paper! I scan in 300dpi...Sometimes 200. (i always work with big pictures then when you reduce it, it looks as if it was vectoriel). With vectoriel, it's better but really to long!
Here is a picture after scan! Here (http://mapage.noos.fr/totitch/ScanQuality.jpg)
and here is the final one: Here (http://mapage.noos.fr/totitch/Final.jpg)
I can't answer everybody one by one!!! Too much! :D
But because you are all kind, we show a little more! Less work!! Hope you will like it too!
Soon we will put more stuff at http://www.ahahah-studio.com/ , GhostHunters section! Stay tuned!

Wow. Thanks so much for the reply and extra stuff. very amazed to here it isn't vector-based. So, I assume you use a Wacom-- what sort of brush tools do you prefer? What I am especially curious about now is animation-- I assume you guys are animating this stuff. So what sort of software/procedures do you use to do that (don't tell me frame-by-frame in Photoshop with a dope sheet resulting in a sort of jumbled TIF sequence!)? You could do really well to take your techniques and put them in a cool detailed how-to-draw-cartoons-the-modern-professional-way and easily outsell any of the Christopher Hart, Lee J. Ames (or whatever else is out there) books. Again, I totally appreciate the last reply- so if I may kindly ask you to grace this forum with a little animation process overview? Keep up the awesome inspiring work.
BTW-- (this is a great compliment) your work is very Genndy Tartovsky meets Disney ;)
