View Full Version : Mechanic Concept - CCM261
mikebarnucz 04-28-2008, 10:01 PM Hi everyone. I've began working on some artwork for a mechanic that I eventually plan to model. The idea here is he is going to be taking a smoke break from wrenching on his hot rod, which I am in the process of designing right now. This would be the pose of the character. My big plan for all of this is to have a garage scene complete with a car and character + props for my demo reel. Any comments and critiques would be great, before I dive too much further into this project.
I modified the original sketch quite a bit with a tablet, and then gave it some colour.
Cheers
Mike

I think he's looking quite good! I don't know how important it is seeing as you're gonna model him, but maybe his hands could do with a little tuning, and his expression. It's good that he looks relaxed on his break, but maybe he looks a bit too dazed...
Keep it up!!!

Thanks. Hand's definitely need some work, and now that you mention it, he is a bit zombie like.

hey buddy, i really like the colors you threw on there. it has a cool style to it, and i like your details in the costume. besides the hand your proportions seem pretty good. can't wait to see the final outcome

Hey, thanks Randy. I've kind of scrapped this idea for a while. I'm going to be doing an environment/props reel so I won't be building this character. However I'm still going to do the garage and hot rod.

He's a pretty neat character, i think the anatomy in the legs could use some work as they look short and stubby and one of the big problems i see is the leg on the left of the image looks like it's not connected to his hip, it should connect higher i think to his body. The area where the head connects to the neck is bothering me a bit, cause it looks like his head was sort of stuck on to the top of his neck. I like the grubby sense given and the colours are good. Keep it up

Nice colour work I like the grime on the overalls, but I think he should have some dirt and grime on his boots. He looks like he's been hard at work and then decided to put on a new pair of boots.
