that's a dangerous question!!
they work both really fine with ps and lw, you should just get the one you like the most.

I've created a hybrid PCMac, I just took the best parts of each and jammed them together with some crazy glue and duct tape and it works! Right now I'm running OSXP, works like a dream. :p

Damn, somebody needs to start… :banghead:
I really hate Bill Gates but sorry I need to say that, I will never get a mac…
1. A PC is cheaper (mac user need to agree with that ! )
2. It is faster on both apps (you can find some benchmarks, even on the adobe page)
3. with windows you can use this great LW 7.5b update
4. My brain is big enough to use more than one mouse button (Ok that was just a joke) :p
I will find more reasons if you need more, hope the apple community is not killing me, I’m sorry, if you are happy with your apple it’s OK, I’m happy with my PC !!!
BTW Hope there is a Lightwave version for Linux coming out !!!

That would be pretty cool! Maybe with LW8? :)

pick a budget. Buy the most powerful one you can get for the money.

Robinson's remarks are right on.. for the same amount of money, you will get a much faster PC with a nice monitor and awesome video card that will run these apps much better than a Mac. Mac's are way overpriced; just eye-candy when compared to a fast PC, plus think about the future and how you can upgrade a pc much cheaper than a Mac... the only think I really like is OS X if you like how the Mac looks, there is plenty of great looking cases for the PC; best way to go is to build your own if you know how
good luck

Seriously this is the absolutely worst question to ask, the fact is there is no correct answer. Only preferences....
edit- felt a little harsh after reading my post, so removed all the bs.

there is no correct answer ?? of course there is, a much cheaper pc runs faster than a mac when using LW and Adobe software, just look at Adobe's site they show that PC's are faster a single P4 is faster than a dual Mac G4 go look at some facts than make a statment that makes sense

I use a pc at home and a mac at work. Bottom line - both get the job done. A pc is generally cheaper and faster. I will say that OS X seems to me to multitask better than Windows 2K. To generalize even more - if your focus will be 3D work, get a pc, if your focus will be 2D work and you've got a good budget, get a mac.

Sorry guys, but I am closing this thread.
We do NOT need another PC vs Mac debate :shame:
shockeddesign - do a search on the forums for this topic, it's been done before.
