View Full Version : Need a 3DS/Vray artist willing to participate in an experiment.

I'm experimenting with different rendering systems to see where their strengths lie and rather than trying to learn every system to get the tests right, I'm hoping to work with someone experienced with each application so that results can be obtained quickly. To start I need someone who has decent experience with 3DS Max and Vray (Vray is the target renderer). It shouldn't take longer than an hour or two for someone who knows their way around both.

I can pay a small amount if necessary, but would appreciate a volunteer.

Thanks!

To elaborate, since I don't seem to be getting any interest, I am investigating whether specialty renderers (landscape renderers, specifically) are faster at rendering images within their problem domain than the best of generalized renderers are in rendering equivalent scenes.

The intention is basically to create a simple landscape scene with atmosphere and sunlight using displacement and then test rendering speed. Only the landscape and basic sky+sun are necessary - no texturing, no objects. The landscape should be based on a procedural rather than an image and in Perlin Noise terms should have around 20 octaves of detail, with the camera near ground level to see the finer details, but positioned on a high point so that there is also a long view. I would think this should take someone with moderate 3DS and Vray experience about 10-15 minutes to setup, and maybe 15 minutes or less to render at a good level of detail. Doing several tests to get closest to a simple reference scene might stretch it out to an hour or two. We're talking about a pretty small investment of time though.

Any help is greatly appreciated and, although I mentioned before I'd rather not pay, I absolutely will (say $50) if it's necessary. I would expect a reasonable amount of revision and experimentation if I were to pay however.
