View Full Version : Some sort of man.. whats wrong?
phix314 04-25-2008, 08:29 PM I'm learnin the whole anatomical drawing thing, and I was curious to see just what needs to be fixed in the overall pose and anatomy. I'm having difficulty seeing the right arm, but I would like it to either be extended back (like a slam dunk pose) or more forward and threatening, but either way I'm having difficulty merging it with the torso.

Hi Phix
well it's a nice start, especially for a dwarf or something similar but IMO here's what I think you need to look at for a human.
Firstly, and my reasoning behind saying he'd make a good dwarf, is because the torso is a bit squat, or squashed, not sure which, and I don't think you've got the perspective or bend in the torso to clearly show either otherwise (hope that makes sense)
The second thing and the thing that I noticed first is that his Tricep, the bottom, upper arm muscle is huge, and the bicep is quite large as well, Longer than they should be I think, but once again this could be a failure to adequately describe the perspective you're aiming for. And you need to look at how the arm joins to the shoulder which joins to the torso. The muscles of the upper body cross over the shoulder while the muscles of the arm cross under it.
Lastly the lack of a neck is also adding to the view of the torso being squashed and squat and while I can see a slight idea of a clavicle (the bone going from the torso to the shoulder) I think you could make it more prominent.
I would congratulate you on good work around the waist and area that most people neglect to include the correct muscle groups, while it needs cleaning up a bit and the muscles you have going from the hips to the legs could do with a bit of work it's a great start and good observation.
Hope this helps

Thank you T :)
I'm not shooting for any sort of human here, so the exaggeration of sizes in the arms and proportions is intentional. I think I'll crack open a few figure books to brush up on the overall form....
Gracias again.
