if i create splines and i have i white background (black and white ref) i don't see my created splines when i make them
is their an option to give the splines i m creating an other color
if i deselect the splines the have their color i gave them in the name and color rollout

Go to:

Customize -> Customize User Interface -> Colors

Select 'geometry' in the elements selection box and look up 'selection' and change it's color.

All the selected objects will now be a different color.

Alternatively you could also make the reference image less white, that's nicer for your eyes too :)

I do what Marcel said about lowering the brightness of the ref pic. I always toss it into PhotoShop and Level it down to 128. Big saver on the eyes.
