View Full Version : How to put an texture only on dark parts of objects?
Creature 05-14-2003, 11:36 AM I've got an objects which is illuminated by a single spotlight. How do I put a texture only on the dark parts of the object and not on the bright ones? Manually setting up the texture won't work because the light moves in a quite complicated way.
Is there a bhodiNUT shader which can do this?

I know there is a tutorial somewhere (mdme_sadie?) on making a 'lightmeter' in Expresso. Using this in combination with alpha's in the material it should work.
If it's just a simple model and animation keyframing it is probably the simplest and best to do it.
Let me guess: you are making the Earth with two different textures, one for dayside and one for nightside?

easiest way is toplace a lumas shader in the alpha channel and then invert it, sor the material that is present outside the light, and then use a base material under that on on the object
