Very shocking! Its amazing how some tweaks can make a character look very alien, no need for extra arms or weird stuff. Good job.

The mother of inspiration is a tribute to David Brin work. It has two point of view.
The first can be interpreted as the author first months, you could see the calendar of his date of birth and photos of Glendale California, where he is borned. It's an artistic explanation about his creativity and where it came from.
The second focus on the interaction beetween two species. It talks about compatibility. Physiological compatibily, feelings compayibility, and faith compatibility. For this last, the cross represent the faith and not a religion in particular.
