Heh, I love the lineup of characters. :D It's amazing how much empathy I developed for Ingrid in those few short moments. Really amazing work.

Only one small thing - did you mean for her body to be proportionally short for the head? The goal was total realism but the shot of her head + body look caricatured because of the funny proportions.

Apart from that, incredible. Would love to have seen a turnaround for the David sculpture, that model blows my mind. Ingrid's head is definitely one of the best models I've seen in a while.

Close up is really realistic but there's something wrong about the body proportions, I noticed about the shot when Ingrid sitting in front of the piano, First I thought there's a little girl there, and the piano size is really small like a toy.

Think about the realistic world, there will be something wrong if Ingrid plays the piano. She had to point her head really down for looking at the notes.

I thought even the animation was great. That kind of slow, subtle movement on realistic characters is incredibly difficult to pull off.

I just wonder who on youtube is giving it bad scores. You think they perphaps don't realize it's all cg?

I've been a huge fan of your work, starting with your David and Natalie models. Now I see this on the front page.. Phenomenal reel and work!

I feel some of the animation of the characters are a little stiff, especially when Ingrid sheds a tear. It felt mechanical. But a small distraction in an otherwise outstanding job with modeling the likenesses, but also in texturing, shading, and lighting. Truly top notch stuff! On par with the best of the best.

Just a couple of small, personal questions, if you don't mind. I recall you using 3ds max in the past for modeling, shading, and the hair. Do you still use it, or have you found XSI and/or Maya to be better for your needs? Also, as stated, your work was already amazing before going to VFS, so just out of personal curiosity, why did you feel the need to attend?

Again, truly outstanding work! The only problem you’ll face in the upcoming days is not whether or not a major studio will hire you, but which studio to choose from!

Very good likenesses. I thought the picture of Ingrid Bergman was an old photo at first - You fooled me. Yeah, the movements are a bit robotic, as mentioned, but it's still quite amazing how you created the illusion of this fantasy film featuring these various stars from different eras and genres. And, I agree with the above post, somehow you managed to capture that famous far-away look in Ingrid's lovely eyes. Great job!

I remember seeing your Song Hye Kyo back in the day and being blown away. Then I remember finding out that you were three classes behind me at VFS and I just about flipped my lid. And I also remember watching your first presentation to the mentors, with Bruce, Ingrid, and Keanu Reeves if I remember correctly. The realism in these shots is absolutley mind blowing. The animation is a bit stiff, but the models/lighting/rendering is impeccable. Its a shame you left Keanu out, but I can see how it might be difficult to fit Neo into the style of this piece, lol. Its a shame we never met, but I guess thats what happens when everyone is concentrating so hard on their work. Best of luck in the industry, although with a reel like this, I don't think you'll need much ;)

rockymaru - I came to school because I know nothing about 3D program in general before....I know how to sculpt in zbrush and render in 3dmax and thats about it :). After the school, my preference program for modeling is XSI, Zbrush, and rendering in Maya......I don't use 3dmax anymore because I don't remember how.

visionmaster2 - I animate in Maya, but it should be the same. I use blend shape for all the facial movement, so it's very limited but it's enough for what i'm doing.

DrTrent - thx man, I still think ur animation reel is one of the best ive seen in VFS so far :D, yeah Keanu was left and there are 3 more people that missing in action, it was too monotonous and unnecessary.

WOWWW! Incredible Modeling/Texturing/Animation!

BUT for Rendering:
There are some heavy Antialiasing Problems in the Animation. You're using Mental Ray? Have you tried the Rasterizer? At least for the Hair? As we all know Sampling is always a huge Problem in normal Raytracers. You get flickering or unusable high rendertimes. So we have this little Renderman kind of thing called rasterizer sitting in the MentalRay core. Most people think its only for Motionblur but you can get some Movie quality Antialiasing with it. I think all the MentalRay-Freaks(tm) here at Cgtalk can help you with this.

There is also heavy flickering in the hair of Ingrid. Is this a Shadowmap or FG Problem?
