oxyg3n 05-14-2003, 06:32 AM Hello All,
This is my first post in the 2d forum, usually I am lurking around in the Lightwave forums. I wanted to share with you a painting that I did last year for my color theory class.
It was originally done with cel-vinyls, so it was hard to paint the transitions/gradients because the paint drys so fast that you basically have to mix all the variations in between.
I purchased a wacom tablet about 3 weeks ago, so I thought I could put it to good use by reworking this in Photoshop and fixing some problems I see with it.
Your comments about what should be done to improve it are greatly welcome.
OH, and my friend from class, Mangled Poly, is graciously letting me use some of his webspace to host the images:

Excellent piece. The colour pallet as well as your use of it is wonderful and makes the piece. The abstraction of the figures as well as the environment allows for the colours to do their job in defining the image. My only critique would be that I think the balding man in the fore front is a bit too detailed in relation to the other figures, which draws more attention to him than I think you may have wanted.
But, my opinion of that aside, it's a damn fine piece of work and something most diffenently for your portfolio.

Hello Guys,
Thanks for the comments. When I painted this I had to have several different sections based on color schemes. So, I ended up having the following areas: achromatic, monochromatic, chromatic tones, and two areas with analogous color schemes.
I painted the background out of focus and used the family yellow-red to create a center of interest.
@Javascream I agree that the bald headed green man is to detailed. He is taking the attention away from the people in the center, I will fix that with PS.
Well, I hope to have a revision up soon. Thanks for the complements I really appreciate it.

wow, directly from a museum. It is really amazing how you used the colors on the firemen and the other people helping. Adds emotion to the picture. Really good art here,
cheers

It looks kind of unfinished.
Otherwise very nicely done.
