View Full Version : Enviroment.
superfly18 05-14-2003, 04:38 AM Hey guys. I post here with an enviroment i'm creating for a movie for my friend. Pretty much it'll take place in this room:

I'd like some ideas of what to add to the room. I plan on adding a comp (labtop) and a chair.
I'm going for sorta of a "hacking" room like in the beginning of the Matrix where Trinity is hacking. Not the same room, but idea as that.
Like i said, any ideas, suggestions, critisims would be extremely helpful for this room.
Thanks in advance.

In addition to the chair and computer I think it needs a little more lighting contrast to give it a little more dramatic feel. The lighting right now looks very even -- not something generally seen in basements (is this a basement?) or hacking rooms (dunno -- never seen a hacking room).
Anyway, my 2c

For the dramatic feel, I'd rather add a visible spotlight, coming from one of the sidewalls, or from above and focusing on the chair.
Rendering with radiosity activated should give a nice effect. It also seems, from what I can see that the texture on the wall is a little too big. Maybe add more detail in the scene, such as some pipes, spider web in a corner, a box, you know, things that you can usually find in a basement.
my 2 c.
nice but I think the pipes need a good rusty bump map on them.
give them some old feel.
with that said this is looking very promising.

You should align the tile material with the lose tiles...

Thanks for all the comments guys!
Iladi: I'm not too sure how to use radiosity nor do i know what it does. A small brief explanation if ya could? ;) I also added a spotlight but i'm having trouble getting it to work like i want to.
Kotayus: I was too lazy to add the extra 2 legs, can you believe it? too lazy...=|
celezionka: How I would i really go about making lighting more "uneven"? I know what you're saying, but lighting to me is something i'm FAR from mastering. :surprised:
Here's 2 new updates:

And now with an extra omni added:

I'm still working on the lighting and texture work still.
Also, anyone know how i could add "steam" or "fog" without having to leave c4d?
Comments please!

hehe, i like it with more light. As far as steam goes, i did this is pyrocluster a while back:
http://www.metafex.net/imagehost/smoke.jpg
I think it simulates the whole smoke/steam thing well...could lower the birth/death of the particles to make it more transparent, not so "puffy"
I still think the tile material should be lined up with the lose tiles... :hmm:
And I liked the other material better, but meaby it's just the light.
I knew this was gonna happen. people always always say the lighting sucks when there is low light.
as a result the whole image gets washed out.
dude if I were you I would go back to the old light setup.
maybe try using some of that anti light stuff to darken it up a bit.
and that light should probibly not be visible. I mean when is the last time you saw a light like that in real life?

Kotayus: How do you make that smoke? I fooled around with pyrocluster and for some reason it never rendered.
JIII: I got carried away with the visible lighting.
Here's a small update on the basement: Comments are welcome, i'd like to get this down. Thanks!
