Hi everyone, this is my first post on here, so my first cgsociety contest :p
I'm sorry for mistakes, my english isn't perfect.

This is the 1st step of my illustration : i put the basic shapes and colors for the main composition. The subject is the deal between farmer and alien.

step 2 : I've added more abstract shapes to aliens/pickup, quick details on the background (sky and field) and a few sky reflection.

Lovely palette and light. Personally, I doubt you'll be "late" because you could stop now and it would still work fine. :) But good luck with whatever else you're doing with it!

next step : I've added more contrast, some details under the pickup, draw the dog and cow and refine the sky o_o

This is really coming along nicely. The sky looks great and the addition of the cow is hysterical!

What is that in the bed of the pick-up truck? I just can't figure out what's back there. Leaves? Gold? Radioactive material? It's so bright - in fact, it feels like the most saturated part of the canvas, so my eyes are drawn away from the characters and over there, but each time I scratch my head over what it is. I hope that as you refine the painting, what it is will become more lcear and it will be a bit more subdued so as to not steal the focus away from the human and aliens.

I hope you'll do something with farmers pose. He is standing like a soldier. Ok, aliens are tall so he must stand tall, but his right hand is what's bothering me. Maybe you can draw it to be in his pocket - bend it in elbow abit.

And one more idea. Maybe the dog should be growling and leaning behind like he is scared.

Not that it's mine idea, but I like third the most. :)

First one is maybe to much. We see from alien's eyes that he is over satisfied, and we see the huge pile of gold. Laid back farmer with a hand in his pocket is enough for me.

But as the "alien suckers" is the main point, maybe you should exaggerate and go with first one.

Hey, i've forgotten to post my first sketche (sorry for guality, i don't have scanner this week :/)

new update of illustration :
gold nuggets are substitute by gold bar. It's more explicite, many people say me that's look like hay :/

And, like original sketche, i've reverse the image, it's more logical for the composition reading.

Thaught the gold bars were corncobs :P

All in all a great image, fantastic colors and perfect composition - love the facial expression of the cow :)

Final version ouf.. some last arrangements. the gold bar wasn't too natural, so i go back to the previous version, gold nuggets.
I've added quick details on aliens, cow and ground.

"The Six Million Dollar Cow"

I've wanted that the humans/aliens relation look like fun and ridiculous.
Deal isn't just. We can easily understand that gold is not important for alien. But he really love milk :D Look at her mouth and the bottles near his foots :]
The farmer take the opportunity to sell one of her cow against gold nuggets (create with his bulb). The cow is promptly taken to the spaceship. She don't understand what happen, she was happily croping hay :/ Poor cow...
The humans/aliens relation is accentuate with a comical handshake. The farmer laugh at aliens with his thumb up, they don't know they get ripped off.
The body language of each characters, the details on cow and alien mouths are some important point who render the funny situation. I use a orange/yellow surrounding to give an warm and quiet athmosphere.

Very nice graphic application of paint and the colour palette is superb. Groovy alien guys too. I have to say I prefer the hand at the farmers side - it adds more character. The thumbs up spells it out too much? Anyway :thumbsup:
