View Full Version : Normal Map "flatness" in some areas

I have a rather irritating problem with some normal maps I'm trying to create using Zmapper in ZB3.1. See below:

As you can see in the circled area, there is deformation in the geometry but when the normal map exports, it contains a "flat" area. I built the original geometry in Max. The UVs are not being overlayed or the seams overpainted. I am thinking that somehow during sculpting I moved it too much and somehow it got "outside" the UV space?? I don't know, can't figure out why it's happening.

CannedMushrooms has a (possible) solution for this utilizing raycasting from within ZMapper:

Beware not to turn up 'raycasting' more than a bit though!!
