This is the second in my series of Pirate concept art (the first can be found here (http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=62407))
Here are two images to get things started, hopefully posting on this thread will encourage me to finish it faster :)

Setting: Tortuga is a 17th century colony occupied by French buccaneers. Located in the Caribbean during the height of the Pirate era it was a major port dedicated to stolen Spanish booty.

Suggestions for props are always welcome as I am not a history buff, also right now I am looking for some ideas for the fort on the hill. Innovative defensive fortifications and weapons suggestions are needed also.

Next update should be tomorrow evening. :beer: !

Just looked at the finished link. If this ends up half as good it'll be impressive.
How the hell did you do the water? Err... in the other thread I think I can manage flat blue!

I should imagine an Island such as this would be heavily forested.
