View Full Version : Lighting setup for shading test
raylistic 04-23-2008, 05:53 AM Hi, I am wondering what lighting set up do you guys use when shading? 3 point lighting , dome lighting? I know lighting affect the specular/bump/reflections alot. So far i tried putting some spot lights here and there but i got no avail. Maybe you guys got better solution or tips. Thanks

I tend to do 3 point lighting, but I replace the fill light with a skylight. So a keylight from front and to the side, a kicker that's stronger and hitting the surface just at the edge opposite the keylight, and then the skylight fills everything else in and provides nice soft shadowing in all the cracks. If the software allows, make your two normal lights arealights.

I'm afraid I don't use maya to do my lighting, so I don't know what those icons in your 3d scene mean.
