hi

What is the most commen productionway for the Z-Channel?
Render the Z-channel in a seperate File ( and bluring the Channel in composite, because of the not exsisting antialliasing) and compose ist later with the RGB-file together?

Or Render it in one Step and extract the Z-channel (in comp...), blur it,
and composite it again together?

regards

I just tried blurring the z channel and then using the blurred result as a luminance based depth buffer with lenscare in After Effects - wacky results. Things were in and out of focus all over the place.

next step is to try the zdepthshader...

btw the lenscare plug gives great results but it does have those nasty aliased edges.
