Some time ago I started a similar project. The resulting RIB
exporter plugin can export HyperNURBed polygonobjects
to the Renderman equivalent. But its very basic, only
the geometries and an unfinished camera export are
supported - no lights, no shaders.

Good to hear about the renderman support.

Has anyone of you guys that are working on this plugin talk to the developers of Aqsis. They seem very willing and open to help intergrate Aqsis.

You mean "RenderMan compliant" I assume.

If the RIB exporter spits out RenderMan compliant RIB's, then they
will be readable by RenderMan compliant engines.

Of course, it's possible that PRMan isn't quite RenderMan
compliant ;)

considering PRman mean Pixar Renderman it better be compliant, its the real thing ;)

but Yes any rib compliant renderer wshould work, some features may not be supported however such as displacements.
