That is quite odd and it is hard to determine the meaning behind the piece.

I don't have much to comment on, it is clearly very stylized.

yeah, it turned to be more like a story cut with flashes, disturbing the storyline - rather to describe the feelings ...

that's all comments ? :hmm:

that was feckin awesome

although the character animation was as wooden as hell it really suited it

gave it a really nice stop motion feel

gun was a bit out of place tho

@victor throe

I should work on the animation, but we decided to let it like that, I kinda got used to the stiff style for this one.. the gun is a part of the universe, no physical pain for the guards, only prisoners suffer - it creates a sort of a distance between the characters...

thanks for every person who looked at our work... I hoped for more comments and critics - but anyway

Since I'm currently reading "Blindsighted" by Karin Slaughter I'm a little bit scared right now :D

Thats very apocalypic man, very nice effects, the music is tip top, generally i liked it a lot, not usually my sort of style, but nothing wrong with that....

Weird...But I like weird.
The story is a little blurry to me, but i like the cutting between color and B/W.

me (Yann Bertrand) and my friend Damien Serban , its our first project beyond the 30 sec. limit :p and it took us like 3 months storyline, scenario etc. and 3 months prod.
we had courses at our school between, so we couldnt just concentrate on it all the time (and some christian fudamentalists trying to burn our houses, hehe) but yes, the whole thing took us like 6 months.
We mixed some of the music too, but a friend of mine gave us a big help there. He is a singer of a grindcore band called "piz urlaun", if you want to check it out, I made their latest video...

The quality of the black and white stuff was great, but unfortunately the sepia toned render quality was a little too blurry (though that's probably due to bad compression). The walk cycles of the condemned were a little too floaty for my liking, and you could see the meshes losing volume in places. Having said all that, this is still one of the bravest, most inventive and original pieces I've seen here - well done!

My all time favourite film is Reqieum for a Dream though, so I might be biased...

thanks alot for your critique ! I think its the first time (finally) I get a real critique on this work. The render mode in sepia tones has a channel blur filter, giving a decolorized (and a little blurred) look, but the compression largely destroys that effect ;(

I like it, I like it a lot. It's definately original and has great videoclip potential. I was especially keen on the cut-out versus blurred background scenery stuff.* There are obviousely elements that are not made in a 'perfectly animated' way, but that creates it's own style and does not botter me a bit. Except for one thing; the hipbones. There are obvious modeled hipbones, but the stay in place when the legs move...... That was a moment when spontanity and creativity did not conguer craftmenship. Besides that you've got a great dark, religious (maybe somewhat heavyhanded) clip. Congrats.

*) seen the 'There There' videoclip from radiohead? You must love that one.
