Hey all,

I was going for as realistic as possible with this one. Just working directly off a reference image I found on the net. All critique is welcome and appreciated; I would especially like any comments or suggestions on my technique and shading. Unfortunately, I don't have a scanner and my digital camera seems to missed my more subtle shading across the chest and face.

I had real trouble doing the hair and ended up just clumsily penciling lines that had some semblance of hair. I'd really appreciate any advice or tutorials on how to draw hair. I also experienced difficulty with getting smooth transitions from highlights to shadows. The image still looks 'chunky' rather than having a smooth render like these drawings (http://images.google.com.au/images?q=pencil%20drawing).

head seems a little small in relation to the neck and torso, the shoulders also seem a bit broad for a feminine figure and her right shoulder is slightly out of perspective, *take note the pupils should be located in the center horizontal line of the head, you could extend her forehead up a bit, as well as lower her eyes a little and maybe scale em up, or make them appear a little bigger by making other features a little smaller. Her left shoulder could have more depth, looking a little flat. Anyways its looking pretty good but if you want that photorealistic effect, just need to practice, maybe you could post a the image you referenced from, use imageshack so they dont mark it as porn lol. For that smooth effect those are drawings show, you could try using an oil-based pencil, just a suggestion. I look forward to seeing your next drawing!

Thanks for the feedback, Jeffromundos.

I agree with you about the head being too small for the rest of the body; this is very clear now when you view my drawing against the reference image. When I was mapping the drawing out, I had better proportions, but I think I was sub-consciously trying to stretch the image to the edge of the page so I didn't have to draw too far beyond what the reference image shows. I didn't notice the shoulders so much.

You're right about the forehead; I think I was supposed to draw the hair higher on the forehead.

I did post a link to the reference image in my original post. I was hesitant to actually embed the image because it is what most would consider softcore pornography and didn't want to offend any forum users. So, again, here's the link: Reference Image (http://img182.imageshack.us/img182/4325/1easastrs4gx5.jpg)
