I keep getting an error when rendering an image, it's :

error 081001: failed to create frame buffer 0: C:\Users\Reid\AppData\Local\Temp/fb000.58.3880 (Not enough storage is available to process this command.)

I can't for the life of me understand what is causing the problem. Sure I'm making a large render, but I have created much larger than what I am on lesser computers.

I've recently switched to Max2009 (and running on vista-32).

Is there some permission I need to change or something?

I've also tried the render-region solution, but that results in some crappy spotty render (random black spots).

I have my final gather at nearly zero as well.

PLEASE HELP.

That's a memory issue really, I've seen this as well on 32-bit systems, the solution was to render in regions covering the black spots. If it's a still image you should first calculate the fg solution with a low sampling setting and save the fg map to use in the final render with better settings.

But if you got any chance to switch to xp or vista 64-bit with max 64-bit you will get rid of the memory issues.

Thanks for the info.

I finally had to take the rendering to my lab's computer, which is running 64-bit XP (and 64-bit max), with a Xeon 8-core proc and 4 gigs of memory.

The computer didn't even flinch. Guess I know for the future now.
