Modeled and rendered with radiosity in Cinema 4D XL 7. Probably finished I think, even though I'm not satisfied at all with the cloth. Anyway, comments adn criticism always welcom!

very nice. It really pays the attention to details. The only fix I can spot from here is the two wood pieces on the right side have the same mapping&texture.
Thumps up!! Excellent.

Very nice image indeed....I like the way everything look worn...nice modelling too...

very nice texture work especially the metal parts of the gun

Critics/comments:

The drawers seem a bit "boxy" maybe you should add some details to make them look more irregular....Might even use a blurry reflection on their surfaces to make it look like it once were shellacked (spelled?). Otherwise a little more "specular" highlights could give the images some more "life", maybe break the highlights with some grime maps to show the even more worn look...

Don't get me wrong I think its a beautiful image....very nice to some good looking environment....Keep it up

Great image Cartesius! The *only* thing I have a question about is the cloth (?) the gun is lying on. I just don't get a good sense of what the material is. Otherwise it's fantastic.

Holy moly!! Thats excellent!! I like everything about it, yeah you could tweak the textures maybe, but frankly I don't think it needs and changes.

Stunning image!!!:bounce:
If you want to change the cloth try it with a frayed uneven edge that will add to the realism.

Very nice work Cartesius, the only thing I can see that needs some work is the cloth. Very well done, as always. -- dano

I think it's great... and you already named the problem with the cloth... so yeah.

Dude! :bounce:

Nice model my friend!

Just one thing to say: check the shadow bias, because some little things that lie in the floor seems to be "floating"...

Textures are cool, and maybe you can work more in the cloth, as you said...

Cheers!

Excellent work

Love everything about this, particularly the texturing. My only crit is the material the gun is lying on. It looks V stiff, almost like car chamois that's been allowed to dry in that position. The screwdriver handle is so cool.

Edit: Just realised you said you were not happy with the cloth anyway.....ignore my comment in that case :)

The textures are good, but the lighting need some tweaking.

Thanks for your replies, guys, I really appreciate it! I've re-rendered the scene with consideration to most of the suggestions proposed. I've shifted the textures on the two wooden pieces in the top right corner so they won't look identical and also replaced the "cloth" with a piece of newspaper. It could be better, but it'll do for now. I've also played with specular maps on the boxes/ drawers, but I just can't get the right look, so I'll leave them as they are for now.

Cheers!

this is very cool...like the paper.

only thing is hammer handle..imho it would be more worn...the grip smoother and shiney...from use and sweat...then a rougher grain of wood.

did a search on google for ya...hopefully this gets what i mean...example don't really have smooth shiney handles...but wood grain is good.

Thanks :) flingster: you're absolutely right, and I've remapped the handle on the hammer as well as the handle of the front most screwdriver. I also "redirected"/edited the image posted above to show the new image.

Consider it done! Not sure it will make it, but I'm giving it a shot :)
