Hello all. I'm posting this here because I need some help. For some reason, I've been working on this off and on because something about it doesn't click with me. I don't know if it's the composition or the colours, I'm not sure. All critiques/suggestions/paintovers are welcome!

:)

I wanna start by saying i really like the hair on the leaping attacker. Hmm i get the same impression youu say your getting when you work on it, im having a hard time putting my finger on it too, but im thinking its likely the amount of open space around the characters and the lack of interaction between them. It doesnt feel like there is any tension like there would be in the moment before a clash. I dont really know, just some thoughts, very good looking WIP though. Excited to see what you do with it

Thank you! And yes, I do believe you're right on the lack of tension in the piece. This is meant as training exercises, hence why the defender is blindfolded, so I hesitated giving her a surprised defensive stance. But you're right. I am not really fond of the defender to begin with, I'll go back to the drawing board and redo her I think.

Thanks so much, this helps a lot. :)

So I took out the defender from the first draft, only because I didn't like the way she looked or was moving. I'm not sure about this one either, but I do like it more than the first. Not sure if the characters are interacting the way they should.

New pose gives the image a way better look overall. Only thing I can crit is the attackers front knee seems to be a little odd looking, like it may be too forward or something. Sweet picture.
