Thanks guys. So about the story - not sure what exactly is going on, i'll leave the details to everyones imagination but my idea was a fight between humans and some alien race (i want to keep them similar to humans, still figuring how to alienize the woman :D) and in the contrast to the struggle in background, the two characters will show that they might not be as different as they think (one helping the other, developing firendship/emotions etc.) Cheesy, i know :D We'll see how it will turn out, maybe i'll rethink the story a bit.

Some concept work, still considering what i'll add into the background and what the characers clothing will be like. Also the woman is still not very alien-ish. Soon :D

Fantastic image, I love it's depth and colours. I agree about the woman not quite being alien enough. Perhaps a subtle change in skin colour. It could be a cooler colour considering so much of the image is warm. Regardless of what you decide to do, I think your entry is magic. I'm looking forward to seeing your next post.

I like the warm earthy palette, very appealing. I feel the girl should be a little more alien like, perhaps the lower half of her body having a snake like or tentacle form (a bit cliche I know). Anyhows I like what you're doing so good luck :)

I agree with recent posts about the girl not looking too much alien, but you can fix this in no-time.
And no story needed here. It's plain simple and I like it this way.

The male figure is a little stiff, maybe bend his lines a bit. not much though.

A very classic space opera adventure mood: interesting. If I may, I'd rotate the girl head a bit toward the boy face direction to increase drama.

badoero: indeed i intend to rotate her head a bit more up, basically to somehow indicate shes looking at him - anyway, still i want her to look at him a little indirectly as to show she wont have his help gladly.

Man you work fast! I agree with earlier posts about making her more alien lookin. Horns are always a good choice.... maybe even some wings, she could have been hit in the battle, and fell from the sky, and thats why she's injured? just some ideas.

Didn't have too much time these few days so just a few changes. I changed the pose of the guy, hope its not so stiff anymore. Also made them look at each other more directly, plus some detailing.

Very nice work :thumbsup: When I first saw the picture, I thought the female was a human. Maybe changing her skin a bit could help "alienate" her?

mostly detailing and some changes - still deciding what the tentacle thingies will finally look like and what kind of alienations to add...i tried skin color but it didnt look so hot, will try some more and see...
Also i'll change/add to the guys clothes so it would look more like a uniform of a soldier or such and of course i'll do something about the girls chest - dont want it to be too inappropriate :D

Donglu-LittleFish: I'll try to rotate her head higher but i dont want to overdo it so it wont look unnatural, she also looks up with her eyes but i guess noone can really tell since shes pretty far away, i'll try to figure it out somehow.

sasquatch70: yeah i'll try to make her more alien. I just want to stay away from all the star trek-like deformed faces and leave her face human so i guess i'll have to do some more alienations to her body :D

nwiz25: yeah that was the idea, that he is helping her but not too eagerly since he knows she wont jump into his arms so he lets her choose. (the humans and aliens basically dont like each other very much)

Love the colors and atmosphere, one thing that kinda bothers me (and I realize is too late to change) is that I don't understand why there's a need for him to hold onto something. The place where the female is laying down is not too steep or low nor there is a threat between them... Maybe you have talked about that before, if so disregard my coments ;)

SNoWs: the idea was that the part where she is is crumbling down but i guess its not apparent from the picture so i guess i'll make it more separated and visible that its unstable. And he holds on to the thing cuz he expects to be holding some 100+ pounds of weight when it will fall down and she decides to grab his hand. Maybe i'll lift her hand a little to show that she is aware of the danger and thinks about grabing his hand.
I was also thinking about having him not hold onto the rock thing but hold something instead, like a weapon. Maybe i'll try that out.

does their hair look a little stiff? maybe expierament with messing it up a bit for a more random hair profile. defining the different strands and layers. google linda bergkvist and take a look at her tutorials. it should be the first site that comes up. They are very helpful.

So i guess this is the last wip, i added some stuff like the wound on the guys leg (which can also give a hind of why he's holding on), some effects, more of the glowy veins on the girl, some changes to the hair.
Maybe i'll add just a few more little things and i'll submit the final image tomorrow.

I havent made up an exact, specific story for this image, i'll leave that to everyones imagination, but i'll just explain roughly what i had in mind.

A war taking place on an alien planet between humans (the man-soldier and the spaceships in the background) and the natives (the woman and you can also notice some beasts with tentacles on their back similar to hers).
The two main characters started to realize this war made no sense and that they can live in peace. But they were
unable to influence it in any way, they got into a desperate situation and he, despite being a soldier of the invading army, is helping her escape to safety as the planet is being destroyed and its inhabitants killed.
She falls down and the ground under her starts to crumble, but with this massacre, most of her kind dead, she doesnt care about her life and is calmly thinking whether to grab his hand and save herself or just to let it happen and end the suffering.
