hello all,
having a bit of a problem with Maya - in the past I've been able to snap to one axis by holding V and using one of the translate manipulators axis'.
The problem I'm having now tho is that it wont do it at all. It snaps happily if I grab the manipulator in the middle whilst holding down V but I want to snap to one axis and cant.

I'm wondering if I've turned an option off somewhere but I'll be damned if I can find it!

please help me on this one - its really hackin us off. we have one machine doing it but the other wont!!

cheers

first select the axis and then MMB snap.

if it does not work:
check if you are in "world" coordinates in the move tools settings.

I'm not sure what you mean, but on my version (4.5) I use X, which snaps just fine to the grid, also only in one axis when using the translate manipulators axis
You can find the hotkey under:
Hotkey Editor --> Status line --> SnapToGrid

Hope this solves your problem
