How do I stretch part of a video but keep the background normal? (E.g make people look fatter, not for any nasty reasons, for a project.)

Hardway:

Roto out the people you want to fatten-up, then increase their X Scale (click the little "infinity" looking symbol next to the Scale number (it ties them together)).

Easyway:

Bulge or Spherize.

Bulge has a horizontal radius parameter. You can even use multiple instances of both effects, changing the Bulge Center or Sphere Center.

It really depends on the background and careful placement of the effects as these effects will distort that too.

Maybe on a duplicate copy, a combo of roto, with garbage masks, (not as precise as a real roto job) to control the distortion of the background.

I'd try Bulge with well chosen key-frames as the quickest method.

Cheers, the bulge works very well, but can you explain about the roto one? I can't find it, Where is it? :argh: (Sorry I wasn't meant to be making this video someone else was, but they're unavailable now, and I have no idea what I'm doing) X)

Here is a great walk thru for roto:

Click on rotoscoping part 1 and part 2, or right click and Save Target as to download:

This series is for Commotion but the principals are the same for AE.
