Hi everyone : ..i m new in UV
maybe is a silly question

i try make uv for an object, after i alppy a shader and texture on it, i find that i should put another different texture on some of the faces.. so i select those polygons faces and project a planar map on it with another shader.( which means i have two different projection map on that object. but after i open my uv texture editor...i saw two of them(UV) both selected.... and the texture for the 2 uv are over lap each others...

so my question is : Can i create a name for those faces i selected for planar map, and a different name for the others...(like the LW ways) .. and where can i do that?? and if is prossible where can i select those name to make only that selected name's uv appear in my uv texture editor???

if it is no prossible then how u guy work this 2 projection map in one object??? select face one by one everytime in the uv editor??

thanks alot

Hi Kinston,

You can probably name a group of faces using sets, but... I don't think you need to.

If you want to use two projections (one for one set of faces and another for another set of faces), then what you want to do is create the first projection on the first set of faces and then create the second projection on the second set of faces, but before you do anything else go into the texture editor and move that new UV projection away from your previous projection. What the second projection does is a UV Cut on the UVs of the second set of polygons, but the trick is to move that new UV mapping off the other UV map. You may need to scale and move those pieces around, but it should work just fine. Does that make sense?

For a really detailed walk through this process you may want to check my 3D Apprenticeship - UV Mapping video training CD. ;)
