Hey Nave, thanks for the report.
I've always really dug Bill Buxton's presentations. Any details on what kind of new UI conventions he's talked about? And those animation controllers....any more info about them....who makes them...communications protocol (midi?).... Is there a midi device plugin for Maya NT somewhere?
thanks.

UI:
for example he was talking about gadgets.
he ment that there are gadgets which are
used for a lots of several needs. so the
user might get confronted with aplications
on his gadget he actually does not need
in his specific area of work and occupation,
and sometimes make his way to the target
complicated.
so the term is about tools which are
targetet on one specific need. and that
was the point which should make using
software more easy.
so he was talking about making alias tools
the industry leading sofware packages so
developers do not need to argue about learning
other tools and invest more time to succeed in
their work than necessary.
so you might think that maya is actually filled
with hardcore areas like animation, modelling,
dynamics etc ... but it is all about one target.
creating 3D content....
AnimContrl:
I actually do not know much about them. I will
not guess. sorry.

Any device you can get working in your OS you can get working in maya (not sure about MacOSX) In the MEL referance sort by function and click on the link that says "Devices" under the system category.
