I was expecting his skin to be more red. Sort of like that demon Lord guy in "Legend." Ehhh.

1. is it me, or does hell boy look like a midget? and what's with those sponges on his head?

2. to this day I cannot believe that Tim Curry played the devil in Legend. Looks nothing like him.

I dont know. Sure doesnt have the same feel to the characters as the Mignola drawings. Especially Abe.

yeah well, besides the limitations of reality and prosthetics and such, you have two artists going at making a creation.

You seldom get good results if the artist (or writer, or whatever) tries to make the movie to the letter of their vision, or if the director makes something without consideration and respect for it's source.

They ahve to meet in the middle someplace to make it work nicely.

I think the fact it looks as close as it does is pretty cool to me, all things considered..as said, unless it's going to be CG there's really no way to get his style completely in "live action". I'm sure a better picture of the whole will start forming soon. Del Toro is one of my favorite directors, you can tell he really cares, so I'm figuring he won't steer this one wrong.

Del Toro has been working pretty close with Mike Mignola for the entire project. Mike was Del Toro's concept artist on Blade 2. So they have to have a pretty close working relationship.

yeah, but I'm sure there is give and take. I personally don't think it looks bad.. well except the prop gun, but that is a technical issue.

Haha, it looks like he's got corks in his head... back to the drawing board with that idea I think.
