I am making this really nice looking scene with a gloomy tower surrounded by decaying swap land. I want to start the terrain with a nice displacement map... But... Im horrible at making them... I was wondering if you guys had a few links to different places I could download some. I have looked around and haven't found all that much... Maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places but any links you guys could give would be greatly appriciated =D

btw... the scene is being done in maya and its turnning out very nicely. When I get the terrain atleast to a previewable point I will post some pics.

Personally I think displacement maps are the easiest of all to create, and believe me , my painting skills are VERY limited...

If its gonna be that big of a problem, then first try creating one with procedurals, maybe some layers of noise or something
but to be honest downloading someone elses displacement map isnt gonna help much anyhow, you know in your mind how you want the terrain to look right? well fire up photoshop..start with a layer of 50% grey and just start painting out white/black areas
cracks, bumps, craters etc....

It sounds like youre setting yourself up to fail before youve even started...just give it a try mate:beer:

I agree.

It might help to play with a landscape generator like Terragen.
