View Full Version : character: robotic
EthanMartin 05-13-2003, 02:16 AM I stop by this forum every now and then but I don't engage in conversation often. Anyway, I thought I'd share this in here as well as the finished gallery. It's my latest project. I've put 15 hours of work into this since last wednesday at my new job. This was my first assignment, a mascot for e-cards. Here is a test pose and render.

Tee hee hee! Looks really cool, I love the poses. Maybe consider moving the elbow down to rest on his knee. I sat lke this to see, and it feels more natural.
very nice that has got real personality to it.
but yeah the text pose is a litte forced. you could straighten the arm and place it on the gound. that would make it a little less forced.
but thats great work, and ever better looking HDRI.
hope to see you post here more, its a great place.

Hi Ethan, very nice work here, I'd like to see a bit more light but that's just me. HDRI??

I agree Davis, I think it also could use more light, and yes - hdri.

Oh yea, I forgot to congratulate you on your new job. Agency work? Are you graduating soon?

I agree with the comments about lighting. Hard to see....
Looking forward to an update. :)

very cool model and as people mentioned personality to it.
You should post more often with work like this...can't understand why you don't
(my only minor comment would be the white eye part on both models is very dominating in the image...not a bad thing...but the larger models eyes feels as if its looking to camera(down towards his knee) and not at the smaller model...and the smaller model looks to be looking above the larger model...if that makes sense...dunno how you solve that though. maybe gradient at edges of white and some direction on eye socket).

really like the design, only thing I can suggest is changing the lighting/textures to provide more contrast between the robots and the back ground. Kinda hard to see right now.

Yep, agency work Dano.
Thanks for the observation flingster and possible solutions flingster.
smoke, my intent was low contrast between the robot and background but I'll keep that in consinderation during animation.

his head has something from a professional corkscrew or let me say "decanting tool" u know?
the metal ist top, but i can't figure out what matrial the red parts is. missing some gloss or highlights.
but don't listen to what i say... listen to yourself ;)
