I'm about to undertake a huge animation in Maya that has a ride film quality to it. But it means massive amounts of geometry and I'm looking for some way to slim it down so it renders quicker.
In Max I found a script called "blinders" over at http://www.blur.com/Blurmaxscripts, that when an object left the camera view it would make it non-renderable, thus saving rendering time. And I was wondering if there was a MEL script or some other way to do this in Maya.
