poly spheres, diffusion/glass mat with high IOR
bump map created in photoshop for scratches etc....
and an extruded random nurbs curve for the bit in the middle
color on the bit in the middle used incidence/facing ratio gradient
all lit with hdr (one of my own)

First one looks nice. Mesh done with Realflow?
Were they really that "quick" especially regarding render times? ;)

they wern't quick at all!!!
16 hours or so for the blobs (and yes, it's realflow)
and about 8 hours for the marbles...
although both at about 4k (for print)
