How do you do a framestamp/timestamp in XSI?

you mean in the viewport... the option would be to hit Shit + S and in the tab you have an option of seeing frames... dont know what exactly you you mean.. but ......

Like in other 3D apps (C4D, Maya, Max, etc.), you can print stats from your scene.

Like the framenumber, rendertime, etc.

Use what soulstation pointed out and look in the stats tab. Look at the rest of the tabs if you need more info.

Kim Aldis has a pretty nice slate plugin, too.
