I'm having a particularly frustrating problem rendering a model that I just finished making. For some reason the reflectivity of certain parts of the model is not being rendered correctly.
Here is an image to illustrate what is happening:

Now I have the SAME SHADER assigned to the entire model. It is a miax using a slightly modified rubber preset with the reflectivity turned up. I am rendering it using an HDR image (just a white window on a black background) mapped to an IBL sphere and final gather as the only illumination. Oh yea, I'm also using version 2008.
You can see that the chest piece, as well as the lower arms and a couple other pieces are not being rendered correctly. It's like only their diffuse properties are being taken into account, since no highlights are showing up on them.
Now I DO have a whopping 900 or so objects, and almost 2.5 million polygons in the scene. I figured maybe I had hit some kind of threshold (although I hadn't thought that would ever be a problem). I already checked all the render flags, and reflection, final gather and EVERYTHING else is all turned on.
So I tried rendering it on a different machine that has more ram. That didn't work. I've tried reassigning the shaders as well as assigning new shaders. No dice. I've tried deleting most of the objects in the scene, except for the broken pieces, but they still don't render correctly. I even tried exporting the model as OBJs, and importing them back into a fresh scene. And although it isn't the SAME objects, there is still geo in the scene that doesn't render correctly.
Any help at all would be MASSIVELY appreciated. I worked on this model for a long time and I would REALLY like to create some polished, finished renders…
