Does anyone know anything about this short? Apparently it's now playing with the Eddie Murphy film "Daddy Day Care".

Has anyone seen it?

I think they'll include it in the dvd release (which shouldnt be far off) like they did with chubb chubbs and MIB2.

yeah, i've seen it at the 3d festival in copenhagen. shelley page from pdi showed it in one of her sessions.
I don't really want to loose to many words on it, to avoid telling to much. it's funny and short . . . .
"change happens" decribes it pretty good.

Hmm didn't see it with Shelley Page in her last session, but I did see it with Dan Sarto from AWN. Great short very cute and funny. It surpases Sprout in numerous ways.

It was kinda cute, although I have to admit that the first thing that popped into my head was Finding Nemo ;) Luckily, that was just in the beginning and it can stand on it's own legs...

(btw, it was the awn session, not shellleys session)

Back in north eastern Pennsylvania, we called them pollywogs. We used to catch them in the Van Awken creek that runs through Waymart.

From Animated movies.

Details on Sony Pictures Imageworks' Early Bloomer
The 3-minute short attached to Daddy Day Care is a "comical coming-of-age tale about an awkward but adorable tadpole just trying to fit in and keep up with his mischievous and playful friends." According to a release from Imageworks, the film has a traditional sensibility with a stylized painterly look and ethereal underwater environment created through refraction, caustics, particle and wake effects and ambient occlusion. Early Bloomer was created and directed by Kevin Johnson, lead storyboard artist on The ChubbChubbs! The short has been selected for inclusion in the internationally recognized Electronic Theater at SIGGRAPH 2003, according to Animation Magazine. The venue is a showcase of computer-generated imagery selected by a jury from hundreds of submissions from around the world.

How about an interview with Mr Kevin Johnson for 3D Festival? Sony seems to be really serious about animation, and they should be getting a lot of credit in the industry for supporting the short form.

I'd love to know what their plans are for their shorts program. Do they plan to continue putting out one short film a year?

It looks like Sony has updated the site for the short. There is now a brief write up on the short:

I got it. I've had general email weirdness for about a week now, getting messages hours after they were sent.

Anyone else ever experience this?
