View Full Version : Character- Female Head
Grugi 05-12-2003, 05:51 PM This is what she looks like, after spending 4 days working on her.
I cant´t find out why she is looking so strange. More like an alien than a human :( .
I´ve used many reference pics, but after looking hours per hours at her.. it´s hard for me to find out the reason why she is looking so ..ehm.. strange
I´m sure some of you guys can help me.

she looks pretty fine if u ask me. it really depends on the style u wanna achieve? do u want her to realistic, cartoony, or semi realistic?

I may be wrong but I think her eyes are too big (or the eyelids are too open) and it looks like a child's. Now that combined with the ultradense eyebrows gives a odd atmosphere about it? To my liking the cheeks are too boxy/meaty (delete whichever is applicable), but you might just try streching down the chin a bit to see how it ends looking. The eyelids are funny as well, maybe idealistic.
But hey, that's me. Nice model even so and looking forward to see the end result.

thx so far :-)
@ dom: My goal is to make a realistic female head and I know I´m still far away from it :/
@ maxmare: I´ll try to make the eyes smaller and make the whole head a bit longer. You´re maybe right.
I will experiment a bit.. so keep on posting, you guys are always a great help
The eyebrows are temporary, maybe i´ll do them with shaghair.
btw... it´s done with 3dsmax5

now I notice the jaw is too wide for a female maybe? And after changing that I notice that what really looked odd in your original image is that eyes, jaw, nose and lips are all too big for the face in my opinion.
Not that you couldn't find someone looking like that easily.
I really like the model now. Keep working in whichever direction.

That looks a lot better :)
I will rework her now and post an update soon.

Small update.. hope she looks a little more female now.
The eyes are smaller now and i´ve pulled down the chin a little bit.
i like the old one better it looks like a kid

The new changes make it look masculine. Go back to the original... there is something else that is missing instead... not sure what yet.

Here's what I'd suggest:
1.)Smaller eyes (not too much though)
2.)Don't make the face longer
3.) Smaller nose! (it's huge) (less wide for sure). Make the tip more pointy, she's got the shnozz of an old man atm!
4.) Make the lips a bit smaller.
5. You might need to move the eyes forward a little as well.
ATM it looks like a kid, it should'nt take too much to fix it.
