View Full Version : texture woes
steveblake 05-12-2003, 04:51 PM A friend of mine is having trouble loading up his Maya files.
He explained that the textures are slowing the viewport down and that he gets a "premature end of file" warning when he tries to load his files...
Does anyone have a clue what this means??
Thanks in advance...

So this just started happening out of the blue???
Do all scene files give the premature end of file error?

Just checked, he says that it only started when he got rid of a script of the shelf and moved his textures locally.
The files themselves are about 9mb but seem to take about 5 mins to load. Sounds a bit fishy...

So maybe it's loading the texture files over the network now?
He should vcheck the texture files in a paint program to make sure they are not corrupted.
He may also want to disable texture display by deleting hte workspace.mel file in his project directory

Hey thanks gmask
I emailed him your answer. I'll see what happens tommorow...
Actually as far as I know, he moved his textures from a network to his local HD.
Re: deleting workspace.mel
Does 'kill' textures permanently, or just until you reboot??
:)

Only until you enable them again.
