View Full Version : Mov Files not 3D???
Hello,
So I've imported a few small mov files that I will be throwing around in 3D space. So I've enabled these mov files as a 3D layer. After that I've added some random floating particles via CC Particle World. As I put my mov files in the middle of the floating particles I've noticed that not a single particle will appear as if it's floating in front of these videos. Is there a way I can fix this? What's going on here? lol.
Thanks guys!

What's going on here?
Wrong strategy or wrong tools, depending on how you wanna see it. Except for Trapcode's Particular, particle systems do not interact with 3D layers in any way. You need to duplicate and pre-compose stuff and then use it as mattes for the particles, then re-combine everything.

This tutorial by Andrew Kramer might help... He does some pretty impressive stuff with the particles and a 3D layer...

If you notice he takes two layers that have an effect as well as the type layer, made them 3D and then just rotated the camera. The particles cross in front of the layers and seem to be in 3D space but the particle layer is on top of all of the others in the timeline. Maybe that is what you need to do?
I use trapcode Particular habitually and find it a little easier to control as well as creating particles in 3D worlds - using layer emitters seem to work when you have 3D space and a lot of camera moves. I am unsure if Particle Playground has that capability though - you might have to buy Particular to achieve the effect you want without pre-comping the hell out of your animation.
