This is one of the angles, I could have chosen.
I just wanted to share some of my thought process for choosing the angle that I did ultimately. Even though my desire is to be elaborate, I feel that the intimate interaction that is between the alien and the astronaut is best served from a closer camera angle.

Continuing to develop interaction between the Alien and Astronaut. Starting to push forms on alien, trying to reach a balanced gray scale, but stuck in areas that I like. I will keep pushing.

Okay here is my latest update. Everything is grey scale
now, I need help with colorizing the the alien in particular the black lines are throwing me off. I guess I have been looking at it too long. suggestions welcome.

Here is some of the detail that unfortunately may be too small to see, The Astronaut is female she is almost where I want her to be(Face Needs A Lot of Work) and the Alien still needs more rendering and smoothing attention. More to come soon. Got a lot of decisions to make did I mention there is a dolphin involved too.;O)

Okay the clock is ticking I have a lot of final decisions to make on color balance and still plenty of final renders to boot. I generally like to do 3 color renders and then select the middle value. But there is little time for that. So bare with me 2 days left by my time estimates. Comments welcome.

The Cosmic Salvation?

We have been judged by nature on our own lack of ability to maintain the precious gifts that this planet has bestowed on us and now our planet is dying. Without the help of the Benevolent we may soon pass.. We are not the first species to squander the resources of its existence at least so we have been told…

" Then render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's, …”

First Contact…

Prologue
Dr, Johan Demetrious is the lead marine biologist at the Naval Academy, his primary interest of study is a third generation dolphin named Herald. This mammal seems particularly in tuned with cosmic phenomenon and he has been trained and tasked to
participate as a sonar-seer.
Lt. Maia Minerva is a top notch and physically fit B.ioligical O.ptimized L.ife T.ransporter pilot with an s-frame license. Who was also hand picked as the human liaison for this mission.

The Mission and Scene
The image is of a grand internal airlock/observation deck of a communal race known only to us as the time of first contact as The Benevolent. Intergalactic emissaries chosen by an apparent union of sentient beings for this mission because they can breathe the same chemical compounds that sustain our lives. Maia is the female biotech astronaut reaching out to the Grand Ambassador of the Sadri-Ghan. As a token of unity he offers her the crest and talisman of his house. In a ritualistic and passive stance, he allows her to take it into her grasp.

She has been tasked to bring with her several samples of indigenous species, along with Herald to function as a translator between herself on humanities behalf and the alien.

The four canisters contain inert samples of our closets ape cousins, the bonobo, a foliage sample from the Amazon rain forest, and planarian.

The question is are they really doing this for our benefit.

The beginning.

Hi Jaded,

Just a friendly critique :)

-It's very hard to see what's going on....there doesn't seem to be any direct light-sources, and no differenciation between background/foreground
-There doesn't seem to be any complementary color scheme or what-not...so everything looks mixed-and-matched colorwise (which isn't really working)
-It's nice that you've created a thorough backstory...but I think in this case, the most important thing is clearly conveying the message in the image. Right now all I can make out is some kind of tank on the right...a humanoid in the center and a tall bending figure on the left. Everything else is questionable.

Hope that helps...I think right now what it could use the most is a definitive light source...so that we can make out the shapes of the scene.
