View Full Version : My First Male Model - Be Gentle
WarrenNoelPowell 05-12-2003, 11:57 AM Been staring at this model for a while now (no not in that way). This being my first human model i've done im trying to see what's wrong with it if anything. I mean it would be great if there was nothing wrong with it but that's not gonna happen now is it. Done in max 5. Appreciate crits.

Hey dude..
Well, my first glance:
Not bad modelling
The arms are huge!
The head is tiny!
I would start by correcting those two things, and then look at the rest of the body.
Are you using an anatomy reference?

Yeah a bit reference. But from multiple sources so it was sort of a bit of piecing things together. Another person has said the arms look a little big. I guess i needed someone else's thoughts.

The head is all right... But you must work on the body. It dont look human.

Alexbox - Please elaborate on how it doesn't look human. Not trying to be rude but i would like the advice.

hello, the modeling is not bad,but the proportion are verry strange, you need anatomycal references :)
4 low

He needs some shoulders. It almost looks like he's got three joints in his amrs. His forearms are way to skinny compared to the rest. His chest may be a bit out of porportion, and his abs are way too low.

i agree with carina...the head is too tiny...beside the other things named, it looks like his ribcage is welding inwards before it reaches his 6pack

I agree with all of you and appreciate your replies. I will make the correct adjustments and go over my reference with a bit more detail with regards to proportions. Cheers.

Hey "the_dude"
For the arms:
When you put his arms down to the side the fingertips should come to just below the crotch. The upper arm muscles look way wrong... the shoulder muscles look like they are coming out onto the arm and the bicep should tie in under the armpit. There should not be a crease that far out on the arm. it should be right around the shoulder. Look at body building reff and another good place is fineart.sk (www.fineart.sk)
The body:
The body should be 7 1/2 to 8 heads high. So make your body smaller or your head bigger. The height of a person is the same as the length from fingertip to fingertip. Your mesh has to many creases and needs to be subtler. The neck looks to long, but that may be due to the small head. The top of the legs look all right but the bottom of the legs needs some work. They stick to far out to the side. You are off to a good start and you just need to look at more body reference to get a better feel of the human body..
Lets see some other shots form different side and better yet lets see a wire shot. :D
In the pic, the two red lines are the same length.
I hope that this has helped you. If you have any questions just pm me.
make the head bigger, arms smaller and lower legs bigger.. go get an anatomy as a referance.. :shame:
