I've just registered so this is my first post - This is an image I produced for a commercial developer using 3D Studio Max scanline renderer and photoshop. I'd be interested to hear people's comments and criticisms.

I think the building is reading flat, only because is too evenly lit, when I look and the underside of the canopy/roof I see the same grey as the walls on the left when in reality light bounced back should be weaker there, leaving that surface darker and darker when it gets closer to the facade...
But then again, that's me.

Here I tried to fudge what I meant in Photoshop.

I take your point. The problem was that the client didn't want to see dark shadow as the building was supposed to be all about light and transparency so photorealism lost out to the particular message the client wanted to convey!

I know what you are saying as I deal with the same kind of architecture/clients/architects here in London, but you ask for comments and maybe the best thing to do is get over with the job and make the image photorealistic afterwards for your portfolio. Just because someone lacks artistic sensitivity doesn't mean you do too. Keep 3ding, nice work.
