Hey!

Is there a way to snap objects (verticies, edges etc...) accurately in 3dsmax?
Each time I want to snap a vertex, I have to make sure I zoom in 100 fold just to make sure that they lie on the same point. And even then it never seems to work.

How do I verticies to snap accurately?

It's called OSnaps, or object-snaps.

Providing you have'nt mucked about with your UI, the 3 little buttons with the magnets on them are your snaps.

Right-click on the one furthest to the left to bring-up the floater that has all the different snaps on it.

For further understanding, hit F1, and do a search of snaps.

Pin-point accurate.

The man above is right.

I just felt like mentioning that if you don't feel like using the snap tool, you can also select the verticies, then in scale mode, right-click one of the transformation-icons (move, rotate, scale) to pop up the Scale Transform Type-In, and just right-click on the Offset:Screen spinner. That'll effectivly make the selected points "snap" to oneanother.

Maybe your transform gizmo is wrecking stuff. The default key to turn it off is the X button. Everytime I want to snap a vertex to another vertex closeby I disable the transform gizmo.

Also be sure to point at the vertex exactly before you press the mouse button. If you have it selected and move it before you see the snap thingie it will not snap perfectly.

i think what marcel said is the problem you're experiencing...

make sure you snap to the vert you want to move, than move (snap) it onto the other vert

otherwise the program will assume you clicked next to the vert you wanted to move, and it will basically snap that position to the other vert

hope that was understandable ;)
