im trying to make a shader for pearl inlays like,

im having a bit of trouble with this, could anyone give and suggestions, im using 2008 and will be rendering with mental ray, idealy i wanted to do this procedurally

These pearl shaders might provide a good base, i think overlayed over your current texture somehow you might get the desired result:
