Don't forget about Allegorithmic's Mapzone (http://www.mapzoneeditor.com/), which is free. Similar to Genetica minus the new animation and shape creation tool features. Though Mapzone does allow vector SVG import and allows manual editing of the created procedurals (Ex. Create a brick wall and grab a brick and move/rotate it).

With all due respect this is a post to promote Genetica and not a post to compare other texture applications nor say which one is better then the other because it all boils down to what each user finds easy and what features he/she needs for there workflow. If anyone wants to do comparisons or feel that one is better then the other please start another thread on those subjects.

No one was comparing or stating that one was better or not. Fernando asked about a free version. Wood Workshop is good for wood, but Mapzone is a similar program that is free.

Erka2 (http://forums.cgsociety.org/member.php?u=10896)'s statement is saying Filter Forge is better. FTW means "For The Win" That's fine, to each there own.
Also you stated that MapZone has SVG import were as Genetica does not. That is a comparison of sorts.
I rest my case.

I never said Genetica didn't have SVG import, which I honestly don't know if 3.0 does because it is not available. The only feaures we kow of 3.0 is what is listed on the website, because it again it is not a released product yet.
