Greeting ,
This is a face wip I have just started. I am not intending to make years or eyes as yet, just studying feature by feature. Until now I have covered the nose mouth , cranium and chin. Any C&C's are welcome.

That is super cool!

What app are you using?

How do you get that cool 2d/painterly look in your renders?

looks pretty good right now, i like the little details that you put in to the face to make it look not as perfect.
Hope it looks better one it has ears and eyes.
good job:thumbsup:

An update of the face. Picked up I think on the shape problem, thanks for the head up :).

I used maya and Zbrush together on this head. The renderer is native Zbrush renderer with generic shader.

Thanks guys , replies are much appricated:)

Here is the wire of the head...

wire::

not what you expected right.....

If you read into the modelling section under modeling techniques you will find the answe:)

could you please post an un sibdivided mesh. and without the other head under it. it is very distracting, and you can't really tell anything from the sub-D version of the mesh. Thanx.

Hi there, I'm sorry if I have caused any misconvenience. This is actually the final model, it is impossible for me to un-subdivide it due to my method of modelling. The closest thing I have to an un-subdivided mesh is my base volume::

As mentioned the process I am using is outlined in::

http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=58893

In briefe...from this stage onwards I will be draping nurbs surfaces over the face, for animation purposes. On completion of this step I will be able to show you a readable wire:)!

Wow! that wireframe is well intense! that must really bog down your frame rate! So explain how you convert that mesh into a nurbs mesh, do you use the nurbs just for animation or do you use them for rendering? What do you use for texturing? With that resolution mesh surely an animation of it would need a huge render farm???

Very interesting... esp. Zbrush, I am intrigued...

hi again Elliotjnewman:),

I will say that its not a conversion but an interpolation of the poly surface to NUrbs, this is why I say Drape:)!
Its a process of creating patches over the model then fitting them to the surface features.

After the Nurbs are created they are converted to subd for rendering( in the process of conversion poly count is decresed dramatically maybe 10 times ). Due to the speed of Nurbs, I wrap them to the subd mesh and animate only with the nurbs visible, with out the evaluation of the wrap node until final rendering.
As a result animation is fast and fluid as per usaual.

Texturing well after the conversion its all done with maya !

I respect that. Why should you tell everyone the secrets youve worked on!

That should look great when textured up!:)

Is it just me or does the face look just like Tom Berenger? :)
